McCaskill: NHTSA sings "Kumbaya" with automakers

Sing! Sing! ...while people burn up in cars.

The old favorite boy scout song as sung by Pete Seeger
"Contemporary use of the song is linked with themes of human and spiritual unity, closeness and compassion."

The NYT, to its credit, quotes Senator Claire McCaskill on the matter of comraderie and cooperation between NHTSA and automakers.

"The agency was more interested in singing "Kumbaya" with the manufacturers than being a cop on the beat."

Nice sound bite, Senator, but I hope your words will have some real bite when stronger auto safety legislation is passed...sometime soon.
