As much as the members and staff may exert themselves with sincerity as we undergo yet another public excercize in fact- and solution- finding to the perennial problem of NHTSA's malaise, those alliance members who know how to lie reassuringly will capture the crowd. And those are the people who know even better how to work the Hill after the cameras have gone away.
